Costs & Choosing a Program

Board and train vs. weekly private lessons — which should I choose?

Both formats reach the same destination. They differ in who does the repetitions and how fast the timeline runs.

Who is doing the work

In private lessons, the trainer coaches and you do the daily reps. In board & train, the trainer does the daily reps and then coaches you at the end. Owners who enjoy training and have time usually get more long-term skill out of private lessons. Owners who are stretched thin get more reliable short-term progress out of residential work.

Timeline

A weekly lesson produces roughly one training theme per week. A residential dog might get several structured sessions a day. If you have a hard deadline — a baby arriving, a move, a trip — the compressed timeline matters.

Behavior cases

Serious reactivity, aggression or anxiety often starts with a behavior modification lesson regardless of format, because the first job is assessment: what the dog is actually doing, what triggers it, and what the household is reinforcing without realizing it. From there we recommend the format that fits.
