Socialization is not dog parks
Good socialization means your puppy learns that new things are unremarkable. Sitting on a bench watching a parking lot, hearing traffic, meeting one calm adult dog you know is vaccinated, walking on grates and gravel, being handled by different people — that is the work.
Lower-risk options
Carry the puppy in busy places, use clean private yards belonging to vaccinated dogs, invite guests to your home, and attend a puppy class that requires proof of vaccination and cleans the floor between sessions. Avoid dog parks, pet store floors and common potty areas until your veterinarian clears them.
Watch the puppy, not the checklist
If the puppy is hiding, freezing or refusing food, you are too close to whatever is worrying it. Increase distance and let the puppy observe. Flooding a nervous puppy creates the fear you were trying to prevent.
