Group classes
Group classes are the lowest-cost entry point because the trainer's time is shared across several teams. You attend weekly with your dog, learn the mechanics yourself, and practice at home between sessions. Classes are a strong fit for puppies, for owners who enjoy the hands-on work, and for dogs who need structured exposure to other dogs and people.
The trade-off is pace. You are the one putting in the repetitions, so progress tracks how much you practice.
Private lessons
Private lessons at Gohld K9 run $100 for a single session, $475 for a package of five and $900 for a package of ten. Behavior modification lessons are $250 for a 60-minute session or $1,150 for five. Everything is built around your dog, your household and the specific problems you are living with.
Private work is the usual answer for reactivity, aggression, anxiety or anything that is hard to work on in a room full of other dogs.
Day training and board & train
Day training means you drop your dog off, a trainer does the repetitions, and you get a handoff lesson. Board & train is the residential version: your dog lives and trains with us for the length of the program, then we transfer the training to you in person.
These formats cost more because a professional is doing the daily work instead of you. Day training programs are around $550 for 8 sessions, board and trains start at $2,500. Specialty programs sit at the top of the range — therapy dog development is $15,000 and a fully task-trained service dog is $25,000, reflecting months of work and the selection process behind the dog.
What changes the number
Three things move the price more than anything else: how much of the training a professional does versus you, how long the dog needs, and how specialized the end goal is.
